Jay S. Hausman was born in New York City. He attended the State University of New York at Albany, graduating in 1989. Thereafter, he attended the University of Bridgeport School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctorate in 1992. He was subsequently admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 1993, at the age of 24.

As the founding partner of Hausman & Pendzick, Mr. Hausman is lead trial counsel and has tried numerous cases in the courts of the State of New York.

Mr. Hausman’s training and experience have provided him with the ability to prepare and try high-level negligence cases in such areas as Labor Law, medical malpractice, premises liability, and motor vehicle accidents.

Some examples of the substantial verdicts and settlements Mr. Hausman has obtained on behalf of his injured clients are:

  • Negotiated a settlement of $3 million for a woman who had sustained burns as a result of the improper maintenance of a building.
  • Obtained $1.75 million for a laborer who fell from a ladder sustaining injuries to his elbow and shoulder.
  • Negotiated a $1.5 million for a construction worker who suffered shoulder and back injuries as a result of a worksite accident.
  • Obtained a verdict of $430,420 for a client injured in a motor vehicle accident, sustaining a torn meniscus in his knee. This verdict was published in New York Magazine as one of the highest verdicts of the year (2010) for an injury of this type.

Mr. Hausman is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, American Association for Justice, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, and Bronx County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice Law in the States of New York and Connecticut. He is also admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
